For all people who feel misrepresented by APAC write an e-mail today to let both APAC (info@apacsd.org) *and* the commission (redistricting_2010@sandiego.gov) know. This would help the Redistricting Commission understand that the majority of the Asian Park Village population really does want to be *One PQ in District 5.”
Please make sure put your name and ethnicity.
Dear Sir or Ma'am,
It is my understanding that APAC is one of the advocates of the separation of the Park Village community from the rest of Rancho Penasquitos. And it is also my understanding that the motivation for this is to increase the percentage of Asian voters in this newly formed district in an attempt to elect an APAC-sponsored candidate to the San Diego City Council.
As you may already have discovered from recent redistricting meetings, most residents of Park Village are vehemently opposed to this redistricting plan. I can't imagine a worse way to harbor votes for an APAC-sponsored candidate than to force these voters to separate from the very community in which they live. As an Asian-American citizen in an Asian-American family, I personally guarantee that we would vote against any APAC-sponsored candidate if we are forced to become part of this new district. And I am very confident that most of the citizens of Park Village would vote in a like manner.
I highly recommend that APAC withdraw their recommendation for the separation of Park Village from the rest of Rancho Penasquitos. I believe this is in the best interest of APAC as well as the residents of Park Village. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Best Regards,

Park Village, Rancho Penasquitos
For the sake of the historical record, APAC did not advocate for the separate of Park Village from the rest of PQ (in fact, they opposed it vehemently after the commission announced the decision to do it).
ReplyDeleteThey did, however, advocate for placing the entire Rancho Penasquitos town area in district 6.
