Subject: Media Blitz
For all of you who attend last night's Redistricting Committee Hearing, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to go downtown and be heard and thank you Dee-dee for staying to the bitter end. It was disheartening to hear that the Commissioners were not swayed by our passionate pleas, however this is not over. Paraphrasing my husband, Tom, the battle may have been lost but the war is still goes on.
The man who read from his phone is Dr. Allen Chan of APAC (Asian and Pacific American Coalition), who showed up to rile us. This organization has been working hard for 10 years to get the recognition they want. They know how to use the media and spin things to their advantage. Dr. Chan had spoken to KUSI and got his snippet put in the 6:30 news saying we (Park Village) were only there because we worried our children would have to go to school in Mira Mesa (which is not the case, our children will remain in PUSD)
Dr. Chan is the owner/founder of Jasmine Restaurant in Kearny Mesa. He has no connection to us in Penasquitos, matter of fact he called our area Park Village Drive. His organization had hoped to get all of Penasquitos in the newly formed district 6, he will "spin" things to his advantage.
Kudos to Commissioner Marquez who pretty much said he is tired of APAC rhetoric.
I hope that many of you will contact KUSI to let them know that they got it wrong. I sent them an e-mail last night, someone else has already left a comment on the following link:
I think we need to start flooding all local news media with our side of the story. Write to the Union Tribune, write to KNSD, KGTV, CW6, Fox etc.... Tell them we want to be represented in the City Council by same person representing the rest of PQ and North City Inland Communities. We have more in common with them than those with our neighbors to the south of us.
Also:
IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET ANOTHER GREAT TURN OUT FROM PARK VILLAGE AND PENASQUITOS ON THURSDAY THE 18th. AT LEAST 100 PEOPLE ARE NEEDED AGAIN!!! CITY HALL, 12th Floor, City Council Chambers 4:00pm
We are united because we love our community and we believe in One PQ.
Thank you once again. We will keep marching forward. It's NOT over.
