“After speaking with a number of commissioners after last night's meeting (I finally got home at 10), I believe the only the way the Commission can make this work for us is if they instead split Scripps Ranch and put their southernmost 10,000 in D6. I think we can make a number of points that show this to be more logical than splitting PQ:
1. There is precedence. Scripps has been split in the past. PQ hasn't.
2. Scripps has always been in a district with Mira Mesa. PQ hasn't. In fact, Scripps and Mira Mesa have much in common and consider themselves sister communities.
3. This is the most important one: The Commission's own findings make it more logical to keep all of PQ in D5. Their second finding says "In accordance with public testimony, a group of neighborhoods was kept together
based upon the community of interest formed by their inclusion in the Poway Unified School District." All of PQ is in the Poway School District. The southern part of Scripps Ranch is not.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET ANOTHER GREAT TURN OUT FROM PARK VILLAGE AND PENASQUITOS ON THURSDAY THE 18th. AT LEAST 100 PEOPLE ARE NEEDED AGAIN!!! CITY HALL, 12th Floor, City Council Chambers 4:00pm.1. There is precedence. Scripps has been split in the past. PQ hasn't.
